ELEM Visits New Covenant House Center

By June 3, 2022No Comments

Last week ELEM staff was fortunate enough to tour the new Covenant House center in NY along with representatives from additional Israeli organizations. We feel truly blessed to learn from our friends at Covenant House as well as share our experience.

ELEM is spiritually connected to Covenant House as our work is so similar. Yet, it was incredible to learn about the differences in approach and language. Above all we loved seeing the warm, nurturing environment Covenant House provides for the youth in NY specifically, and in the U.S. and Latin America more broadly.

Covenant House has collaborated with ELEM in the past. In March we were fortunate to host a virtual event with Covenant House NJ. The event moderated by Tony and Emmy Awards nominee, Tovah Feldshuh, focused on young mothers at-risk . During this fascinating discussion we addressed the  complex issues, gaps in governmental support, and the hopes for our program.

Mothers at-risk often fall between the cracks. They live on the intersection between being youth at-risk themselves, and becoming care-takers.

We want to thank the Covenant House team for having us and answering our many questions. We are extremely lucky to collaborate and learn from other amazing organizations and hope to continue doing so in future.
