What is A Real Home-Bayit Amiti?

“A Real Home” is a therapeutic community for young women who were or are victims of sexual violence.  The program encourages them to function in normative frameworks and works to reduce their feelings of shame, guilt and anger.  In addition to group work, these young women receive individual counseling with the staff and volunteers of the center.

Who is served?

A Real Home – Bayit Amiti serves young women who are victims of sexual violence, ages 14-26.

Where is the program located?

 Achievements

  • Opening of the Center for Young Women.

  • Professional training for the staff on the subject of sexual trauma.

  • Workshop with the singer Shiri Maimon on songwriting.

Expansion and Development Plans

  • To run a course for staff and volunteers from other ELEM projects on the subject of sexual abuse.

  • To identify and make contact with teens and young woman suffering from sexual violence via the internet and get them resources and support.

  • To structure the farewell procedure and the way contact is maintained with young adults who have left the home.

  • To develop specific solutions for other populations, such as teen boys who have been sexually abused and young mothers.
