Novy God is a nonreligious alternative for New Year’s Eve. It is celebrated by many Israeli Jews who are first- or second-generation Russian immigrants. Novy God celebrations and merchandise are common wherever there are large populations of USSR emigrants (such as Ashdod, Ashqelon, Beersheba, Netanya, and Haifa).
