Happy Mother’s Day to all the special people who nurture and care for us! Today we want to particularly celebrate young mothers at-risk.
ELEM has assisted young mothers at-risk for years through our programs. In early 2020, right at the height of the pandemic, we launched a program specifically for this demographic. The situation is of these young women is unique as both youth at-risk and young parents. Once they become caretakes, the welfare services don’t know how to treat them and they fall between the cracks.
Here is a short clip about how ELEM is working with these brave young women to break the cycle of poverty and exclusion.
In the video, Head of the Young Mothers program, Avigail Hazor Sivan, shares how ELEM makes social services accessible to these young mothers. Moreover, the program helps them find a job or simply allows them to speak with someone and have time for themselves.
