Just a few hours ago, a rocket hit a kindergarten in the North. Miraculously, these kindergarten children were dismissed barely half an hour before the hit. Days earlier, another kindergarten class hid in a bomb shelter as a missile hit the spot they’d just been playing in at recess. Close calls like this underline the need for safety for every Israeli child.
For teens and young adults at our 24/7 HaLev (The Heart) Haifa, a lucky dismissal won’t save the day. In Haifa, a mixed city, these youth identify as Jewish or Arab; straight, gay, or trans, with many facing gender-based violence. These youth come from extremely troubled backgrounds, with no other place to call home.
Each one of these vulnerable youths rely on HaLev being open to them 24/7.
HaLev is a safe haven: but in desperate need of renovations. Unimaginably, it even lacks a bomb shelter. Today, you can change that. The need has never been greater. Contribute to our North campaign, where every dollar will support programs like HaLev (The Heart) Haifa, and this urgent renovation project.
Together, we can ensure safety for our vulnerable youth at HaLev, and throughout Israel’s north.
