Kobi Oren is running the Sri Chinmoy Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race for our youth! The Self-Transcendence is the longest foot race in the world.
Kobi is a therapist who works mostly with teens after psychiatric hospitalization. He is also an avid runner. Combining his two passions, Kobi wanted to add meaning to his love of running by running for a cause and he chose ELEM youth.
However, Kobi didn’t just choose to run for our youth. He also visited our youth at the Coffee and Small Talk center in Nahariya, where he gave a talk titled “Against the Odds.” He shared his lessons about running and life and how to cope with difficulties and moments of crisis.
The race which takes place in Queens, New York lasts several weeks and is hosted by the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team. The runners run laps around Jamaica, Queens – 164th Place to Abigail Adams (84th) Avenue to 168th Street to Grand Central Parkway. The runners have 52 days to complete the race, and run daily from 6 AM to midnight.
If you want to support Kobi’s efforts, you can also donate to his cause by visiting www.elem.org/donate and choose “3100 mile race” under “type of tribute”.
