ELEM’s Board Member, Dr. Charlotte Frank, died peacefully in her sleep on May 26th, 2022.
Dr. Charlotte Frank was dedicated to public service. She began her career as a teacher and moved up to design curriculums for New York City. After her time in the NYC Board of Education, Dr. Frank served as vice president for educational publishing company McGraw Hill and on the New York State Board of Regents.
Charlotte was a trailblazer who modernized teaching in various fields. She was a keynote speaker at major forums, focusing on adapting school practices to the needs of the today’s workforce.
Dr. Charlotte Frank won more than 70 awards for her achievements. Some of them include the NYU-Distinguished Alumna Award and Education Update’s Outstanding Educator of the Year Award. She was also inducted to the Hall of Fame of the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) and the Hunter College Hall of Fame.
We at ELEM were fortunate to have had Dr. Frank’s ongoing support and guidance. She left a legacy for those fighting for equity.
We want to extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends, notably her husband Marvin Leffler and her children, Harley, Anne and Matthew.
