We wanted to share some of the accomplishments of ELEM’s youth centers. ELEM worked non-stop to help Israeli youth and in the past year we managed to deepen and expand our work.
ELEM opened 3 new youth centers in the past year, 2 of them will serve Haredi youth.
We now have staff from 8 youth centers that go out to the streets to find and assist youth in distress. This follows our philosophy of meeting youth where they are.
Our program Shluk now operates 7 centers in schools across Israel. The centers provide youth with social and emotional support. The program was expanded to decrease drop-out rates.
ELEM also developed new models and offerings. First is an alumni group in the Tzfat Coffee & Small Talk/Hafuch Al Hafuch to share about their struggles and emotions. Second is an innovative-group model, Espresso Marom Galil which provides emotional-social spaces in rural areas. Finally, we opened a Hebrew language learning center at Mix Holon to help immigrant youth bridge gaps in collaboration with “Beit HaOleh.”
We love looking back at the past year and reflecting on our work for youth in distress across Israel. However, even with the expansion of our work there is still so much left to be done as distress markers have worsened during COVID and are higher compared to 2019, before the pandemic.
