Today, we’d like to tell you about MK Ibtisam Mara’ana visit to ELEM’s center.
Knesset Member (MK) Ibtisam Mara’ana, recently visited ELEM’s The Heart center for young men and women in Haifa and spoke with young Arab trans women. They shared with her the feelings of loneliness and the difficulty of integrating into society after engaging in prostitution.
MK Mara’ana told the young women: “You’re okay. You’re great. You’re really a hero. And I’m really glad you did not leave this world. I ask you – do not go! There are so many other women like you who see you and can see the light and hope in you, but it’s a matter of having a little patience.” She concluded: “I came here to tell them that I am here for them. I continue to develop solutions for Arab LGBTQIA+.”
We are so happy that politicians and decision makers are showing interest, listening and working to better the lives of youth and young people at-risk. We’d like to thank MK Ibtisam Mara’ana for the visit. We hope that many other will follow her foot steps and come talk to the youth and young people we serve all across Israel.
