This Black History Month, join us as we host a very special “Sip & Social” event at Harlem’s legendary Tsion Café – the sole restaurant in NYC serving Ethiopian Jewish cuisine. Located in the historic space that originally housed Jimmy’s Chicken Shack, this building has hosted icons of the Harlem renaissance, from Malcolm X to Billie Holiday and more. Today, as an acclaimed Ethiopian-Israeli restaurant, Tsion Café continues that legacy as a vibrant hub for the Harlem community. Come mix and mingle while enjoying a buffet-style meal.
Joining us is the owner of Tsion Café herself, Beejhy Barhany, acclaimed chef and author of Gursha: Timeless Recipes for Modern Kitchens from Ethiopia, Israel, Harlem and Beyond. She is also founder of the Beta Israel of North America Cultural Foundation, a nonprofit that celebrates and honors the legacy of Ethiopian Jews, and has been featured in The Today Show, The Forward, and Jewish Telegraphic Agency, to name a few.
Registration is LIMITED. Tsion Café is certified kosher and fully vegan. Wine and beer are available for separate purchase.
