Nur

Drop-In Center

Arab youth in Israel face multiple challenges, including limited access to resources, social inequality, and a lack of culturally tailored programs. Many young people in Arab communities experience complex risk factors tied to identity, marginalization, lower-quality education, language barriers, and exposure to violence.

Established six years ago, the Nur Center was created as a preventative and empowering response to these challenges—addressing the specific needs of Arab young women through culturally sensitive support and guidance.

Nur is a specialized program for Arab teens and young women ages 17 to 26. It helps participants strengthen their education, gain employment skills, develop financial literacy, and build confidence and independence. Through personal guidance, community connection, and leadership development, Nur empowers young women to take control of their lives and envision a brighter future.

Nur currently operates in Majd Al-Krum and Ramla.

Nur serves Arab teenage girls and young women who face social, cultural, and economic barriers. Many struggle with issues related to family dynamics, gender expectations, limited opportunities, or cultural dilemmas.

ELEM’s role is to provide a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive space where participants can access guidance, counseling, and practical tools to overcome obstacles and create positive change in their lives.

Reaching the Margins of Israeli Society

Nur focuses on young Arab women—a group often underserved by mainstream social services. The program addresses the intersection of cultural, social, and economic challenges these women face and provides tools to promote autonomy, self-expression, and leadership within their communities.

Since its establishment, the Nur Center has supported more than 600 Arab teenage girls and young women, helping them build self-confidence, pursue education, and achieve greater independence.
