What is period poverty?

Period poverty describes the prohibitive cost of, or lack of access to, period products, support, and education. In Israel, at-risk teens may face period poverty if they come from dysfunctional home lives, are low income, lack access to permanent shelter, or have dropped out of school and other frameworks.

How can ELEM mitigate period poverty?

ELEM supports at-risk with youth with 50+ programs all over Israel, including programs in schools, on the streets at night, in 24/7shelters, and in afternoon drop-in centers—all places where teens might need some extra supplies!

Your contributions of pads, tampons, discs, and period comfort items, or a donation to our Period fund, will help ensure teens never have to choose between period care or a meal. Because period items are still taxed as a luxury good in Israel, your support here in the US will go even further!
