Anashim Tovim
Street Outreach
Anashim Tovim is an outreach initiative that supports high-risk youth and young adults attending unsupervised trance parties across Israel.
Every weekend, thousands of Israeli teens gather at open-air parties in forests, deserts, and remote fields—events often unregulated and unknown to authorities. For many participants, these gatherings provide an escape from daily struggles. Yet for others—particularly those facing emotional distress, addiction, or instability at home—they can become dangerous environments marked by drug use, psychological breakdowns, or violence.
ELEM founded Anashim Tovim to meet youth in those moments of crisis, offering nonjudgmental support, harm-reduction interventions, and follow-up care. The program’s presence has become a vital lifeline—preventing hospitalizations, overdoses, and long-term trauma among some of Israel’s most vulnerable youth.
Anashim Tovim operates nationwide, with outreach teams traveling to trance party locations that shift weekly across Israel—from the Negev desert to northern forests and open-air coastal areas.
Anashim Tovim serves high-risk teens and young adults who attend trance parties and other unregulated gatherings, often while struggling with drug use, trauma, or homelessness.
Many are disconnected from traditional systems of care, and some are entirely unknown to welfare authorities.
These youth represent a cross-section of Israeli society—Jewish and Arab, religious and secular, immigrant and native-born. What unites them is their need for compassionate adults who can meet them exactly where they are, without stigma or judgment.
ELEM’s trained outreach teams provide that connection, intervening at the precise moment when a young person’s safety and well-being are at risk.
What Happens at The Good People Project
Each weekend, ELEM teams travel to trance party locations across Israel—often deep in forests, deserts, or open fields—to create safe, calm spaces amid the chaos.
Core activities include:
On-site crisis intervention for young adults under the influence or in emotional distress
Immediate first response and psychological support, including hydration, rest, and grounding techniques
Follow-up contact and referral to therapy, family mediation, or social services
Long-term mentorship for those who wish to continue receiving help
ELEM staff and volunteers are specially trained in harm-reduction and trauma-informed care, ensuring safety without judgment. Many of the youth encountered through the project continue engaging with ELEM long after the event ends.
Reaching the Margins of Israeli Society
The project reaches diverse and often unseen populations—youth who live outside traditional education systems, who may be estranged from family, or who belong to subcultures often misunderstood by mainstream society.
Many struggle with addiction, poverty, or trauma. Some are immigrants or minorities seeking belonging in alternative communities. For these young people, Anashim Tovim offers a rare encounter with adults who see them not as problems to be fixed, but as individuals deserving care, safety, and dignity.
In a single year, ELEM teams have engaged hundreds of young people in crisis, maintaining long-term contact with approximately 300 of them through follow-up support.
